15 Beard Mistakes That Kill Men’s “Good Looks” {INSTANTLY}

May 22, 2025
If you want to be better-looking, grow a beard. It’s one of the quickest and easiest steps to automatically boost your looks and sex appeal. That is, unless you’re making some of the mistakes that I want to cover today. I’ll explain not only what the mistakes are but also how to fix them.

Thin or patchy beard? Here’s what you can do:

  • You need time. As you mature, your beard will get a bit thicker. Give it time.
  • Boost your testosterone by eating better, such as more protein and good fats, such as omega-3, 6, and 9.
  • Take multivitamins and biotin.
  • Brush your beard to facilitate hair growth and train your beard to grow over patchy spots. Brushing also stimulates blood flow, which encourages growth.
  • Rogaine can help to improve facial hair, but a more natural option is Pete & Pedro Boost. It’s a powerful natural formula that stimulates hair growth, infused with biotin, castor oil, rosemary oil, peppermint oil, metal extract, vitamin C, and more.

Mistakes that kill a beard’s good looks

  1. Not using beard oil. Use beard oil to soften, make it shiny, and condition it.
  2. Having a long and straggly beard. Wiry and thin beards look terrible. Cut it shorter to make it look thicker, or dye it to make it look thicker.
  3. Not giving it time. Many men make the mistake of not giving their beard enough time to grow. Let it grow for 4 to 6 weeks to determine its thickness. Trim the neck during this time, however.
  4. Having crawling neck hair. Do not have crawling neck hair because it makes a man look sloppy. Edge it up.
  5. Edging too high. This habit destroys the look of your beard. Do not carve up too high. Check out my video for an example of how to edge properly, so that a double chin is camouflaged and neck fat is not apparent.
  6. Growing up cheeks. Do not allow your beard to grow up your cheeks. Edge it. Again, refer to the video for a demonstration. The more natural you allow your facial hair to grow, the better off it will look.
  7. Going too thin. Going too thin with your beard does not look natural.
  8. Sporting a mustache over the lips. Don’t allow your mustache to grow over your lip. It should not curl into your mouth because that’s disgusting. Trim it up.
  9. Having poor sideburns transition. If you have a bald head and a beard, the worst look is a hard straight line at the top of the ear. You need to feather it and transition so it blends.
  10. Growing a round beard makes your face look fat and chubby. A beard should strengthen your jaw, so you need to do it properly. Make sure you feather, train, and trim it to be more diamond-shaped than a half circle.
  11. Using too dark a dye. Do not dye your beard too dark. If you go jet black, it looks ridiculous. Find a color similar to your hair color, then cut the time in half so it’s not too dark. You can always go back and dye it darker. If you leave it on for less time, some natural grays will come through and look more natural.
  12. Wearing a fat goatee. A fat goatee is not stylish. A mustache with short stubble and a soul patch is the sexiest.
  13. Having no sideburns. Men need sideburns. Make sure they’re not cut too high, however.
  14. Cutting off sideburns. Make sure the sideburns come down to the middle part of your ear. Angle them slightly to follow the line of your jaw. Check out the demonstration in the video.
  15. Having too long sideburns. Long sideburns are unstylish unless you have longer hair, past your shoulders.
