The idea that being single is the ultimate path to success

May 9, 2026

There’s a lot of noise out there when it comes to relationships, success, and money. Everywhere you look, somebody’s telling you to stay single, grind harder, and only then think about finding someone. And on the flip side? You’ve got people screaming that if a woman is into you when you’re successful, she’s just after your wallet.

But here’s the truth—from my experience—it’s not that simple. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone being attracted to success. In fact, it makes total sense. Success signals discipline, smart decisions, resilience, and a work ethic. Those are incredibly attractive traits, and they matter way more in the long term than surface-level stuff.

Let’s be honest—if someone has built something for themselves, figured out their finances, and created stability, why wouldn’t that be appealing? That’s not gold-digging. That’s recognizing value. And I actually think that’s less superficial than chasing someone purely based on looks.

Because here’s the deal—looks fade, situations change, but character? Work ethic? The ability to build and rebuild? That’s the real currency. And that’s why you see it play out over and over again, guys who aren’t the best-looking still end up with amazing partners. Why? Because success, confidence, and stability are powerful.

Now let me shift gears and talk about something personal—because this is where everything changed for me. There’s this idea that being single is the ultimate path to success. For some people, maybe. But for me? That couldn’t be further from the truth.

When I was single, I was a straight up mess. My focus wasn’t where it needed to be. I was spending time, energy, and money chasing women, dating, going out, trying to impress people who didn’t matter. It was distracting, expensive, and honestly, kind of empty.

And the worst part? I wanted to be successful, I had goals, and I was trying to build something. But I was splitting my attention. My brainpower was going in a hundred different directions instead of being locked in on what actually mattered.

Everything changed when I met my wife. And I’m not just saying that to sound romantic—I’m saying it because it’s true. Once I got into a real, solid relationship with someone who matched me, everything shifted.

And that’s a key point—matched me. Not just physically or emotionally, but in terms of work ethic, values, and mindset. If you’re grinding and your partner isn’t? That’s a problem. If you care about growth and they don’t? That’s a problem. Alignment is everything.

I’ve been on the other side of that too—dating someone who wasn’t motivated, who didn’t respect money, who wasn’t building anything. And let me tell you, that’s not a long-term play. Attraction might get you in the door, but alignment determines whether you stay.

Let me tell you a quick story that says everything you need to know. When I was going through one of the toughest times in my life—financial struggles, working odd jobs—my wife had a great job. But on weekends? She came and worked with me, doing the same grind, just to be there and support me.

And when life hit her? When she lost that high-paying job? She didn’t sit around feeling sorry for herself. She adjusted by taking a lower-paying job, making sacrifices, and leveling back up over time. That’s what a real partner looks like—someone who adapts, works, and grows.

Being with someone like that changed everything for me. It gave me stability. focus, and removed distractions. I wasn’t out chasing attention or validation anymore—I had something real at home. And that allowed me to go all-in on building my future.

That’s why I push back on the idea that relationships hold you back. The wrong relationship will absolutely wreck you. But the right one? It will elevate you in ways you can’t even imagine.

At the end of the day, success and relationships aren’t enemies—they’re connected. The right partner doesn’t compete with your mission; they support it. And for me, I know without a doubt, I wouldn’t be where I am today without that partnership.
